What is Spectra Unplugged?
 
Spectra Unplugged is the Wi-fi service from Spectranet. Wi-Fi is wireless fidelity, wherein a user can access internet in a wireless environment thus facilitating any time, anywhere access to internet services with in a given area. It enables you to connect your laptop or personal digital assistance (PDA) to the internet, without using wires (e.g. in wireless enabled locations you don't need a phone line to surf the internet).

Q.
What hardware and software do I need to use spectra Wi-Fi services?
    In order to use Spectra unplugged, you need a PC or Mac laptop or personal digital assistant (PDA) with wireless (Wi-Fi) connectivity.
 
Laptops
   
Laptops that have the technology with integrated Wireless LAN capability will work automatically or can use an IEEE 802.11b wireless access card (e.g. PCMCIA card). No other hardware or software is required.
  Check drivers and settings
   
If you've added a wireless access card, please check you've correctly installed the drivers and the card by referring to the card's instructions. Windows XP has built-in drivers for most wireless cards
  PDA'S
   
If you've a hand-held device (PDA), Microsoft Pocket PC 2002 and above or Palm OS 4.0 and above are the preferred operating systems.

Q.
How do I log in?
  Step1
   
Please make sure that your PC/Laptop has wireless capability inbuilt or else you can ask for PCMCIA card from the Wi-Fi sale counter.
  Step 2
   
Once the System is switched on, it shall automatically search for wireless/Wi Fi signals available in that area. On the bottom of the Screen messages with the list of available networks in that area like “X, Y, and Spectranet shall be available.
  Step 3
    Please choose Wireless Signal by moving the cursor on Spectranet and then clicking left button of your mouse or the device.
  Step 4
  After the Spectranet's wireless network has been selected,
    1) Open your web browser
    2) Enter your username and password when requested ((Please be informed that these details are case sensitive in nature.)
    3) Open your email program (e.g. Outlook) to use email, open a new browser window to surf the internet
     
Note: you should try to keep the Spectra Unplugged window that confirms successful log-in open in the background to prompt you to correctly end your session when you've finished, don't forget to log off or sign out before closing your web browser.
 
Please be informed that the validity of the card (24hrs) starts right after successful activation till the pack time of card (like 1hr, 2hr etc) gets over.
Logging for the First time
 
If you are a new Customer you need go through one time registration process by entering your personal details in “ new user registration form” available on the login page.After filling up the details you will be authorized to use Internet on Spectranet's Wireless Network.

Q.
Will I have to follow the same procedure every Time?
   
You will have to log into the System using your user and password every time so that you are authorized by software to be a registered user. And also log out completely before switching off your device or else in actual your account will not be closed physically.

Q.
How do I change my username/password?
   
Your username/password is pre-allocated details and cannot be changed. Please keep your username and password secret.

How much does it cost to use Spectra Unplugged Wi Fi services and what are the service packs available?

How do I pay?
  You can make payment through Cash or Credit card only. Please note that cheques will not be accepted.
Q.
Can I carry forward my un-used time after expiry of card validity?
  No, the left over un-used Time cannot be carried forward as all packs have validity in terms of time after activation.
Q.
In case my PIN, Card is faulty or it was activated for a very short period will I be refunded full amount or partial amount?
 
We will replace the card with new one, only if your PIN does not allow your account to be activated with us. But once activated we will neither replace nor refund the same.
